What is Reiki?
Reiki is a safe, gentle, non-intrusive healing technique that can be facilitated with either light touch or hands placed a few inches above the body. You can either do self-Reiki (learn how in the Reiki I Training) or receive it from someone else. Reiki is a holistic system for balancing, healing and harmonizing not only the body, but also the mind, emotions and spirit. It supports our well-being and strengthens our ability to heal by encouraging balance.
Our bodies have their own innate wisdom, which is always working for our highest good and leading us toward health or balance. Because of this, our bodies are constantly communicating to us when something is going wrong. It can show up as a warning (like fatigue), a symptom (like a headache or indigestion), or a subtle insight (like a longing to be in Nature). However we live in a culture that honors ‘go, go, go’ and ‘do, do, do’ at the expense of our nature instincts. So, we’re encouraged to drink a cup of coffee rather than rest, or take an aspirin rather than getting curious about, “What’s making my head ache?
Reiki can also support the mind. One of the biggest benefits is deep relaxation, which results in decreasing stress and tension. You may also notice greater insight and self-awareness.
Reiki also flows into our emotions, helping us to notice how we respond to challenges…what emotions are surfacing. Emotions are simply energy in motion. Poeple often strive to expand positive emotions such as joy and love. But, stronger emotions such as anger or grief are often experienced as unacceptable or challenging. Rather than feeling those emotion, we try and stop their flow, sometimes ignoring them for a lifetime. Blocked, locked or frozen emotion create an imbalance in the body, mind and spirit.
Reiki also fosters the high vibration of acceptance and love for your life and for yourself. This encourages a person to lean into their own spiritual journey and connectedness with the Divine.
